Polytrope, LLC, is an independent database and web applications development firm in Dallas, Texas, with clients throughout the United States, Canada and in Europe. We develop custom database applications for small businesses, law firms, and higher education. We also make and support CMAssistant, formerly known as EXTRA!, the leading circulation management solution for alternative newsweeklies and other bulk distribution publications. Polytrope LLC is an Associate-level member of the FileMaker Solutions Alliance and most of our development work is done in FileMaker Pro and other technologies from FileMaker, Inc. Polytrope's owner and principal is William Porter. William is a former university professor turned programmer. He is a FileMaker 8 Certified Developer. In addition to his consulting and development work, William writes for publications such as Macworld, MacTech, TidBits, FileMaker Advisor. And on weekends, he photographs weddings and other special events. Polytrope closings coming upWe will be closed Monday, 5-26-2008, in honor of Memorial Day. And Will Porter will be on vacation in Colorado the first week of June. He will be able to check email daily, but he will not be able to respond as quickly to support calls as usual. CMAssistant 6 hits the streetsOK, it's not exactly like the release of Microsoft Vista, but CMAssistant 6 is now in use at our first installation and over the coming month or two we'll be pushing upgrades. Polytrope phone service glitch ( May 5, 2008)The glitch with our phone service in early May has been fixed and our incoming phone service is working again. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please note that, even with our incoming phone service back up, email is still the best way to reach me. [WP] Goodbooks Develop is now on the loose!Goodbooks is a suite of applications tailored to the needs of religious communities such as Catholic monasteries, convents and retreat houses. The Develop (fundraising) module is now in use at monasteries in Pennsylvania and California. Modules for retreat scheduling and gift shop inventory are coming soon, and possibly--for those who really like to keep things simple--a finance management module as well. Please write for more info.
